The opening ceremonies began, I immediately loved the choir of children in their traditional dress, the little girl in the red dress should be animated & live with Hello Kitty, she was so cute! I really enjoyed the gorgeous caftans wore by the female athletes from some of the African nations. My favorite was the Australian ladies in their turquoise and yellow tunic style tops with the mandarin collar, such a fashionable nod to the host country. Everything was so grand & beautiful.
Then the Canadians entered, I read on MSN that they were 62nd in the parade of countries and about 50 minutes in, several news channels noted that the Canadian team received the loudest cheers from the crowd, until team China entered. (Which I was very disappointed in China's choice of uniform, I had hoped for something more traditional) Adam Van Koeverden carried the Canadian flag, I am not sure who he is, I was trying to vote for Steve to carry it but no one asked my opinion. :)
We looked at the sea of red and white uniforms and I said to Matt, I am never going to spot Steve, it looks like Where's Waldo! And then we saw him, right in the middle, so tall and smiling! Steve you looked so happy and patriotic! We are all (all the Minches, not just me even though I am the alpha blogger) so proud of you! SO much that I am going to end now and not talk about your uniforms!
Big hugs and best wishes from Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Georgia, Florida and where ever that wife of yours is! ***Editorial Addition***We can't forget the Wallaces in Massachusetts cheering on the "long, lean, visible Green machine"!!!
*that is a picture I took of our TV, Matt is working something up to record the Opening Ceremonies to a DVD & we will put a clip on the blog. If anyone wants us to burn them a copy leave a comment!

I'm so glad that Jes is our Alpha Blogger !! Great commentary & we were all very excited here in UT to see Steve. Our phones were ringing & texts were coming in on the Steve sighting. Sending good positives vibes to Steve & the whole Canadian Olympic Baseball Team.
Not to mention the Massachusetts fans! We waited on acupuncture needles for Canada so we could see Steve Green! Took photos of Henry at the TV watching! We were sooo excited to see Steve, so prominent and proud. The Wallaces hail from Canada so we were extra proud singing 'Oh Canada.' We had chinese food to complete the Beijing mood. And, we love the M for Minch! :-) It is so exciting and we are so proud of you Steve - from Red to Black we now salute the long, lean, visible Green machine!
