Dear Lukey,

Just trying to think of something to write about you or to you just makes me smile. I guess you should be named “Sunshine” because when you are in the room everything just lights up. I think Sunshine would be a little too girly for you. I can’t believe it’s your first birthday, how the year has flown by. Speaking of Flying you’ve done a lot of that too, with trips to Florida, Pennsylvania, Mexico & Canada. You will be the only little boy I know that will celebrate his first birthday in 3 countries, the first celebration in Cancun, Mexico in the Presidential Suite overlooking the Ocean, the second in Canada at your Grand Mere and Grand Pere’s house in Longqueil, Quebec and when you get home the third one in the US at Nana & Poppy’s in Farmington Ut. Quite the little North American Traveler.

You were born on a very cold night, a sweet little baby boy, who took a while to make an entrance. It was so exciting to see you come into the world, how happy I am that I could be there with Aunt Jessie & your dad & all the nurses waiting patiently for the doctor to arrive. It was just amazing, your mom was radiant when she first saw your face & your dad so very proud. We all loved you from the start. Poppy Steve, from the first moment he saw you, you had him wrapped around your little tiny fingers.

We love having you with us, your happy little squeals, (sometimes your very loud screams that even the neighbors can hear) your smiles. it’s hard to put into words the joy & light you are for us, even when you did wake up many times in the night. We & your mommy & daddy love it even more now that you sleep all night. I’m not sure how much we are going to love that you are walking but we’ll do our best to Luke proof the house.
