Happy Anniversary Karen and Mike

Karen and Mike were married in August 1981, we had met Mike the year before when Steve was stationed at Ft.Rucker, Alabama. They came down to Steve's graduation, Jessie was a darling 2 year old and that watermelon under my shirt was Beckie. So this was Mike's first time to meet the family. I have heard that I immediately began calling Mike "Uncle Mike", I guess I liked him right away! ~Jessie After graduation we went to the beach in Florida, I think Destin, we found an inexpensive hotel, ok cheap hotel….the Capri by the Sea, we named it the sand flea by the sea.
Now for their wedding, we were stationed in Italy so it was a big trip to come for the wedding. Joan, George, Karen & Robert were thrilled to see the girls, they can grow up a lot in a year. Karen looked as she still does now Radiant ! She was such an elegant bride. Mike just looked so nice in his White Tuxedo. It was a great looking wedding party, very classic and stylish.
We had great bridesmaid's dresses and Grandma had a little white eyelet dress with blue underlay made for Jessie. I remember it was a beautiful day, sunny and not too humid (because everyone would have been sweating with the August Georgia Heat & our hair is not all frizzy in the pictures !)
To be honest I don't remember a lot about the wedding ceremony but the party after was one to remember !
The reception was at the Atlanta Country Club, beautiful setting.
First we had the head table complete with high chair for Jessie. Wonderful dinner, dancing & a very busy bartender!
There were so many members of the family and lots of friends there, just having everyone together made it a fun reception.
The next day or maybe even that night Karen & Mike left to go on their honeymoon. Their fully decorated car was at George and Joan's house and Steve, Robert and I were going river rafting. So off we went the next morning. Steve & Robert riding through rural Georgia towns with Just Married plastered on the car and 2 guys in the front seat. (I was sleeping in the back)

Twenty seven years, it seems like yesterday. Happy anniversary and best wishes for at least 27 more anniversaries to celebrate !!
With Love- Donna
Aunt Karen and Uncle Mike-
I have always thought you two have the best marriage, full of love and respect for each other. You always treat each other so kindly, like you are best friends. I hope that Matt and I will be as happy as you two are. We love you, thank you for setting such a great example of love for us! xoxo.
